The artist of this painting is William Samuel Wright. The date is unknown but was before 1900. William Samuel Wright was the father of Thomas Wright – the founder of the Cowper and Newton Museum. William trained as a portrait painter, but made a living in Olney as a photographer.
The painting is of Orchard Side – the home of the Cowper and Newton Museum – from the Market Place, Olney. The original painting hangs in the Museum.
