Our museum is run by wonderful volunteers, reporting to the House Manager. Our success is due to their enthusiasm and commitment. They welcome our visitors, serve in the shop, help conserve our artefacts, keep our gardens looking gorgeous, and raise funds through all sorts of special events. Monies raised are essential to our running costs and have to be met through donations, museum admission charges and local fundraising as we have no regular income. Your help and contributions are therefore always most welcome. We have the following volunteer vacancies or alternatively you could become a Friend of the Museum (details on forms at Front of House). Please contact the House Manager if you would like to offer a few hours each month in the museum.
*Visitor Reception – Welcome and assist visitors from all around the world to the Museum, and help run the Museum’s gift shop on a rota basis (a few hours each month). The House Manager or a Trustee will always be on hand to support you in this role.
*Marketing and PR – Promote the Museum by encouraging group visits and regularly do marketing through social media and local press and publications.
*Assistant Events Organiser – Help plan, organise and run themed days and fundraising events: including writing, designing and distributing publicity material. Bring in local business to support the event and find funding or sponsorship.
*Events Volunteer – Volunteer at the museum for special events, help out with group visits and/or provide emergency cover in the Museum’s gift shop.
*Administrator – Support the Museum behind the scenes. Experience of Excel and Word is essential.
*Assistant Volunteer Co-ordinator – Help organise volunteer cover for Front of House and events, keep records up to date e.g. rota, and help with recruitment and retention of volunteers.
*Volunteer Costume maker – Volunteers are needed to make Georgian costumes for the Museum and its events. Materials can be provided.
Our volunteers receive full training and on-going support, invites to exclusive social events, and make a real contribution to one of Olney’s most significant tourist attractions.
