‘Hollowed out, they come
Absence so keen it cuts
Grasping at the straps of return
(The gone stick to the vacancy still)
The good do not fear the void
pregnant with want
The container is enough’
EXTRACT FROM A POEM BY THE ARTIST
The exhibition brings together the artists exploration of collage, drawing and painting, drawing on themes of time, object and absence. The works originate from chance encounters and the intuitive bringing together of found images, text and markmaking.
Pottery and figurative forms are repeated in elliptical metaphors
About The Artist
I graduated with a degree in Fine Art painting from Canterbury College of Art.
I taught art for 30 years, at Stantonbury Campus and then Havering Sixth Form College.
Now retired from teaching, I exhibit regularly, my practice is shared with my volunteer tour guiding at MK Gallery, and A level Art examining
I am delighted that my exhibition comes to this historic building, as time and memory are such a part of my practice.

Going
‘The wise do not fear the void
Unoccupied, nothing is contained
The gone cling to the vacancy still
Use all available space
The innocent do not fear the void
Bareness cleans, renews,
the expanse of possibility
Use all available space
Do the missing not fear the void?
Hollowed out, they come
Absence so keen it cuts
Grasping at the straps of return
(The gone stick to the vacancy still)
The good do not fear the void
pregnant with want
The container is enough’
