An Amazing Walk from Middleton Hall to the MK Rose on New Year’s Day

An Amazing Walk from Middleton Hall to the MK Rose on New Year’s Day

January 1st 2023 is the official 250th anniversary of the hymn, Amazing Grace, written by Rev John Newton to accompany his New Year’s Day sermon for the morning service at the parish church of St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Olney.

To mark the occasion in the city of Milton Keynes, the Cowper & Newton Museum is calling for you to join together in Middleton Hall at the Centre MK, in front of John Lewis at 2:00pm. Reverend Hugh Reid, from the parish church of St. Peter & St. Paul, Olney, will deliver a message of Amazing Grace. Composer Adrian Boynton and the MK Kenyan Ladies Choir will be delivering a musical performance. This will include music inspired from the Olney Hymns and of course – a rendition of ‘Amazing Grace’.

This will be followed by a walk to the Milton Keynes Rose in Campbell Park at 2:30pm, where the commemoration will continue and everyone will be invited to take part in a mass sing of Amazing Grace! This is a free event which is open to everyone.

In Campbell Park, 106 granite pillars of varying heights emerge from the monument’s surface and are inscribed with significant dates of events. One of them commemorates Amazing Grace. For further information about The MK Rose, please visit www.miltonkeynesrose.org.uk
