A Romp With The Georgians
A Romp With The Georgians
David Harper’s ‘Stand Up’ History Tour … it’s history, but not as you know it!
A Romp With The Georgians – David Harper’s History Tour: David Harper is a well known BBC TV antiques presenter, presenting on shows like Bargain Hunt, Flog It and Antiques Road Trip for 20 years.
He’s also an artist, a public / after dinner speaker / auctioneer and a writer. His recently published book ‘A Romp With The Georgians’ is a humorous, light hearted look at life in Britain during the Georgian period 1714 – 1830.
The book is packed with funny, outrageous and dastardly historical stories our history teachers didn’t tell us!… and it’s now been turned into 1.5 hour stand up comedy, family friendly history show (45 minutes x 2) Stories range from strange Georgian pets, binge drinking, Georgian cosmetic surgery, electrified beds, smugglers, money launderers, fashion disasters, dodgy politicians and how to sell your spouse in auction…amongst many other very unusual, but true tales!
Lots of audience participation in the form of questions. No two shows are the same, as it’s unscripted and reactive (depending on the questions). Book sales, book signings and meet and greet.
- THIS IS AN OUTSIDE EVENT and will take place in the museum garden. Please bring a raincoat for light drizzle as umbrellas will not be allowed due to obscuring the view for those around you. If lots of rain is due we have a wet weather plan under cover.
- The Museum will be open from 12pm if you would like to look around before David’s main event (usual admission applies).
- You’re welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in our gardens (no food or drink to be consumed inside the museum).
- We have one toilet at the museum. Others are available on the Market Place.
