‘Sip & Paint’ – a Celebration is a different sort of exhibition, it celebrates the work of a number of amateur artists who have gained the confidence and skills to produce their own art. Some of the work is for sale, with direct contact to the artists concerned.

Something Less Boring was conceived and formed in 2017 when Liddy and Adam decided to quit their 9-5 jobs to pursue something more enjoyable, fulfilling…..less boring!   Initially the plan was to provide art and sporting events for children both in schools and during the school holidays.  This however began to change when, in early 2018, they decided to try an idea they had seen during a tour of the USA a few months earlier – Sip & Paint.  They approached The White Hart pub in Sherington and Art at the Hart was born!  In the following weeks new venues were added at The Black Lion in Leighton Buzzard and Beer Bear in Stony Stratford.

The aim was to provide a relaxed and social evening for people to renew their acquaintance with art and creativity in warm and welcoming environments,  a long way away from the dreaded secondary school art classroom!

As well as the Sip & Paint events the art sessions now extend to Weekly Art Clubs,  Paint, Coffee and Cake events and include longer Introduction to… courses for those who want to progress with their skills and techniques in watercolour, acrylics and drawing.  Something Less Boring now count 33 regular venues where you can enjoy their brand of relaxed, guided art.

The creative force behind SLB and artistic even from a very young age, Liddy’s earliest memories are of drawing, designing and making things. This love of art stayed with her throughout school and she gained a BA Hons in Illustration and then went on to complete her PGCE in secondary art education.  After ten years of teaching Liddy wanted to share her love of art with people beyond the classroom setting. Liddy believes that art is something that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ability, it’s a true mindful activity which allows a busy mind in a noisy world some time to switch off.

The success of Something Less Boring’s events couldn’t have been achieved without people – so this exhibition is a celebration of those fabulous people, people who wouldn’t necessarily consider themselves artists.
