FACES AND PLACES

3rd – 26th April

Jenny Fisk

Contemporary Portrait Artist

As an artist I am drawn to bright and beautiful people, places and objects. I sketch and paint from the world of popular culture in particular pop music, theatre, fashion, cinema and larger than life characters: icons of their generation such as David Bowie or Vivienne Westwood.

I work in mainly pencil, watercolour, ink or acrylic paint and sometimes as a mixed media combination.

I studied Art Craft and Design at Milton Keynes College (2006) but have always drawn, painted or made collage work throughout my adult life. I have also taught Adult Education Day Courses through Stantonbury Campus on how to create Mandalas (early 2000’s).

It was only recently in 2018 I developed an interest in iconography and the development of character portrait painting.

I have had my work shown through Gallery Live in Stony Stratford (2022 & 2023) and have completed several private commissions.

Some of my more recent work arose from being involved in the Carabosse Theatre Production of Bram Stoker’s Dracula at Stantonbury Campus last October/November 2023. The piece was a portrait of Dracula ‘in character’ and was purchased by the actors’ family.

FACES AND PLACES

3rd – 26th April

Chris Howard

Artist & Musician

As an artist I like to imagine alternative views and visions of places we all know and love. Some of my works are apocalyptic in nature while others have a more celebratory outlook and all under the banner of ‘All this has happened before and all this will happen again’. For this show I will be creating a special Olney themed piece of art…

My work is created using a combination of illustration, photography and digital art and this blend of skills help me to realise my artistic visions.

For many years I have been working as a musician playing guitar in many bands alongside my work as a book and record cover artist. I have also worked as a Graphic Designer for Compass UK, designing marketing materials and restaurant signage.

In the last few years since lockdown, I have been inspired to produce artwork for exhibitions and commissions including my own solo show for gallery Live last year which ran for 45 days. Last year I was asked to produce the artwork and background images for the stage show of Dracula by the Carabosse Theatre Company which was thrill for me.
