Free Talk with Refreshments: John Newton’s Friendship with Alexander Clunie

Following on from the “Dear Brother: John Newton’s Letters to Alexander Clunie” exhibition in the museum earlier this year, this session will focus on the friendship between John Newton and Captain Alexander Clunie, who was briefly Newton’s Christian mentor in St Kitts. The two men remained friends and Clunie was an occasional visitor to Olney. From his trading house in London he also supplied John and Polly Newton with household items which couldn’t be found in Olney.

Standard garden admission applies and there is no cost to join the talk. Annual pass holders gain free access. Free refreshments provided!

Advanced booking is advisable. Please inform us of your attendance by emailing info@cowperandnewtonmuseum.org.uk
