Cowper and Newton Museum Lace Day
Cowper and Newton Museum Lace Day
Cowper and Newton Museum Lace Day – come and celebrate with us the opening of our new ‘Lacemakers Room’.
Our featured image is a collection of lace collars made by Debbie Moller who was a very well known and respected local lace maker. Debbie lived in Cranfield and then Olney. Debbie’s daughter recently donated her mothers collection to the museum.
Our first Lace Day:
- Watch lace makers working at their pillows, eager to answer your questions and inspire you to take up this fine hobby.
- Our pop-up lace shop, for this day only, selling old and new lace, bobbins, threads, books patterns and prickings.
- Refreshments with Cattern cakes and a hot beverage.
There often wanders one, whom better days
Saw better clad, in cloak of satin trimmed
With lace, and hat with splendid ribbon bound.
A serving-maid was she… by William Cowper, The Task (Book 1, The Sofa)
Usual admission applies. Refreshments: Hot drink and Cattern cakes £3.50
