Delightful, comfortable face mask made from two layers of fabric between which a third layer can be placed for additional protection, e.g. a tissue, paper kitchen towel, polypropylene fabric (third layer not included). With adjustable ear loops. (Pattern used: Medium size).

Hare Face Mask
Description supplied by our Volunteer who kindly makes these beautiful face masks:
“The hare fabric was chosen as hares are a popular motif throughout the museum. William Cowper, the 18th Century poet and translator of Homer who lived in Orchard Side (now the location of our Museum) kept three rescued pet hares, Puss, Tiney and Bess. His hares were both an inspiration and a consolation for him. Hare symbols abound in the museum and therefore when I decided to make some masks it seemed most appropriate to seek a fabric design which captured this. William Cowper suffered from bouts of extreme melancholia, depression. I feared that our current pandemic and imposed solitude would have severely affected his mental health, as it does so many now. We hope the delightful hares on these face masks will help lift the spirits of the wearers”.
The hare face mask is made with hare fabric ‘Balsara’s pale blue 100% linen fabric “Shabby animals, hare”.
They are hand washable in hot soapy water with disinfectant, and machine washable at 40 degrees.
(Fabric is sold as suitable for upholstery or curtains or dress-making).
