Museum Guided Tour in the home of William Cowper

Meet our Tour Guide, Derek, in the museum shop for the beginning of a fascinating museum guided tour.  Set in William Cowper’s former home from 1768-1786, find out about how the lives of William Cowper and John Newton came together, through Cowper’s poetry and prolific letter-writing, the Olney Hymns and John Newton’s famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ of 250 years, commemorated in 2023.  Derek will illustrate his stories by showing you key items from our 5000 artefacts collected over the 125 years of the Museum’s existence.

Spaces limited to 10 people.

TOUR PRICE:  FREE  with your annual pass OR if you don’t have an annual pass, purchase yours in our shop on arrival for only £10 to enjoy a year of visits to our museum, gardens and art exhibitions in the gallery, during usual opening hours.  Check our website for more free tours to enjoy with your annual pass.

Our Museum building remains CLOSED.  We are opening our gardens on limited entry.  The Cowper & Newton Museum gardens will be open to welcome you on Wednesday 5th August 10.30 – 12.15 and Saturday 8th August 10.30 – 12.15
