Winter Tails, Wildlife Art by John Tuff
Saturday, December 3, 2016 @ 10:30 am - Friday, December 16, 2016 @ 3:00 pm
The Gallery is delighted to welcome local artist John Tuff with his exhibition of wildlife in chalk pastel. Here John tells us about himself and the inspiration behind his work:
My name is John Tuff, I live in Newport Pagnell with my Wife, 18 month old daughter, two cats and two rabbits.
I am a self taught artist, experimenting with almost every medium from pencil and pen to oils and even mosaic, and almost every subject from motoring art to portraits.
I still do like to experiment with all subjects and styles but the one thing I always come back to is my love of wildlife and my love of pastels.
The natural world has been as much a passion for me as the art and the never ending variety that nature provides in reference material means a never ending enjoyable challenge.
Most of my work is rendered in chalk pastel as I love the vibrancy of colour and the versatility it offers from soft furs to wet shiny noses.
Whilst creating the collection for this exhibition I have been encouraged by the national interest in my work, having been shortlisted for two major national art prizes with ‘The Butterfly Effect’ and being a featured artist in this years ‘National Exhibition of Wildlife Artists’ (NEWA)
An exhibition that features the nations best wildlife artists.
The piece featured in the NEWA show ‘Survivor’ sold and the resulting media interest and commissions have been very welcome and very humbling.
I am still taking commissions for anything from pet portraits and Penguins to Aardvarks and Zebra and anything in between.
All of the pieces in the exhibition are original works (except ‘Survivor’) professionally framed in pastel specific double or treble mounts.
