DESCRIPTION:\nGuided Walk to William Cowper’s Alcove\n‘The summit gained. Behold the proud alcove crowns it!’ So wrote William Cowper in ‘The Task’ referring to the folly in the village of Weston Underwood, where Cowper would rest on his walks and where he wrote many of his most famous poems whilst taking in the wonderful views of Olney and the surrounding countryside.\nJoin us on a leisurely and fact-filled historical guided walk though Olney to Weston Underwood, approximately 3 miles each way. With some stretches across fields and over styles, sturdy footwear is recommended. The pace is leisurely but there is some climbing of styles.\nThe tour will take about 4 hours (or 2 hours to the Alcove for those who prefer to make their own way back or visit the village pub).
