DESCRIPTION:Join Amazing Grace 250 partners and performers for the final event to close this 250th anniversary year\nPLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS BEING HELD AT THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST PETER &amp; ST PAUL, OLNEY\nBook your free ticket via this link to the Museum’s Art Tickets site:  Final Event of Amazing Grace 250 ( https://cowper-and-newton-museum.arttickets.org.uk/cowper-and-newton-museum/2023-12-13-final-event-of-amazing-grace-250 )\nThe hymn, Amazing Grace, was written in Olney by Reverend John Newton (1725 – 1807) for his New Year’s Day service in 1773 at the town’s St Peter &amp; St Paul Church. Since making its debut in the Buckinghamshire market town, it has become internationally known.\nLess known is the life story of John Newton, a naval seaman and slave ship captain before a religious conversion led him to become a clergyman and a figure in Britain’s Abolitionist Movement.\nAmazing Grace 250 has been a year of activity which explores what this means to people around the world today.  The evening includes:\n\nProfessor James Walvin, author of Amazing Grace: A Cultural History of the Beloved Hymn\nFilm which documents the year\nReadings by Dr Rommi Smith from the new commission Forever?\nMK Youth Cabinet repsonse to Amazing Grace 250\nMK Sweet Sound choir\n\nDoors open at 6.45\nRefreshments are provided in the interval\nThere is no parking at the Church but there is ample parking throughout the town. Time restrictions are in place in some areas www.olneytowncouncil.gov.uk/facilities/parking\nThe church building and toilet are accessible. There are a small number of wheel chair accessible locations. Please contact admincnm@cowperandnewtonmuseum.org.uk to organise seating and location for you and your group.\nPlease email admincnm@cowperandnewtonmuseum.org.uk if you have booked tickets but find you are then unable to attend.
