Friends of the Cowper & Newton Museum

The Museum exists to conserve, develop and maximise access to its buildings, collections and tranquil gardens, thereby promoting the public understanding and enjoyment of William Cowper and John Newton and some of the greatest stories of the 18th century. Olney is the home of the world-famous hymn ‘Amazing Grace’.

Our collection has also benefited from personal donations to conserve and digitise some of our important manuscripts.  We have just completed a project to make available digitised images of  the Poor Law documents, made possible from a £20,000 personal gift.

The Cowper & Newton Museum trust works hard as an accredited museum to ensure over 4000 items in our collection are cared for and made accessible to all.  As custodians of this historic site with Grade II* listed buildings, careful regular conservation is required.  Your financial support is very much appreciated to assist us.

As a Friend of the Cowper & Newton Museum you become a part of our history.  Your membership helps conserve the historic collection, the museum buildings and gardens & enables us to continue to share the story for future generations.

Membership will include free entry to the museum and gardens, plus a twice-yearly newsletter.
